2022 Impact Report
In 2022, we introduced our 2030 People and Planet goals - using the power of baking to restore nature and build an equitable world. We are holding ourselves accountable to a higher standard, setting ambitious environmental and social impact goals, and using evidence-based work to yield authentic, tangible changes to our carbon footprint and the communities we serve.

WSU Breadlab breeds for diversity — hence our work on rye, a winter hardy and drought-tolerant grass that produces nutrient-dense seeds which make for flavorsome breads and crumbly pastries. My aim as an anthropologist is to narrate the story of rye in the U.S. and envision future possibilities.

Regenerative Agriculture
We worked closely with growers, agronomists and industry experts to define outcomes and prioritize the key impact areas that will help farmers transition to regenerative agriculture practices.
What is Regenerative Agriculture?
A regenerative future is one where farmers - at all scales of production - are economically viable and able to invest in practices that restore and sustain the health of the soil, water, and ecosystems upon which the fertility and productivity of the land have always depended.

We take our responsibility to help solve the climate crisis seriously and are dedicated to creating a more resilient, equitable, and ecologically sound future – starting with wheat, where our decisions have the greatest impact.
